Desert designs

With the recent droughts and concerns over water restrictions landscapers are turning to xeriscape designs. Not only do they use less water, they also blend into the beauty of the surrounding desert.

But don't let the name xeriscape fool you. The design possibilities are as diverse and beautiful as any cool season landscape style in rainy areas.

Desert foliage has an exquisite beauty because the plants have to survive in this hot, windy and dry climate. Although some may even look delicate with bright, gorgeous flowers, they are actually very sturdy and easy to care for.

Chip-n-Dale's Custom Landscaping is a "water smart" contractor, and their designers can create anything from tropical to a Tuscany look using desert and warm season foliage.

Sizes and shapes of rocks and stone can be used to add a variety of levels and angles that create depth and visual beauty. Sitting areas can also be built into the design, using rock or slate.

Talk to your designer and let them show you samples of the wonderful variety of foliage, trees and shrubs that are used in desert landscaping.
